Dark humour takes us into zones of uncertainty. White Raven’s pursuit of Buddy, and Buddy’s emotional collapse, are a critical moment in his story. Unable to resolve life’s eternal contradiction—that we must kill to live—he arrives at the outer limit of comprehension. Linear thinking isn’t going to get him where he needs to go, however, and he exhausts himself trying to reason his way out of spiritual conflict while pedalling madly on a his clattering, stolen, yellow bicycle. Before we continue our literary journey with Buddy, please consider making a $5 author’s royalty payment if you haven’t already done so.
